GROUP SIX REFERS TO A SERIES OF ELEMENTS IN THE PERIODIC TABLE
They consist of transition metals chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W). Group six elements on the periodic table are some of the key elements used in alloys for wear and corrosion resistance. We believe that our strength comes from our belief in the need to understand the science behind overlays.
As our name implies, we wanted to ensure we understand the materials and processes we provide. Group Six Technologies Inc. was incorporated in the spring of 2013 and operations started in the fall of 2013 in our 12,000 square foot facility. We quickly hired a materials engineer to use his Master of Science in Materials Engineering to develop our procedures and figure out what we were doing. The model worked. The next year we added more equipment and brought another materials engineer with a M.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering on board. The growth has continued as we continue to add names to our customer list that is 200 names long.
Our “laser focus”, pun intended, on laser materials processing is intentional, we do not offer machining services. We partner with several companies that are experts in their respective areas and can package together services to offer turnkey parts when requested. Our time and effort are spent improving laser cladding, laser hardening, and laser welding. But, you are going to say, well you offer grinding services. Yes, we do. The hard coatings we deal with require some specialty processing and to ensure timeliness of development and deliveries we needed some control over this aspect. The same can be said about our onsite materials lab, we needed faster results than could be obtained by outsourcing these tasks.
We are proud to say we are achieving our goal of bringing hard-to-access technology to Alberta, Canada, and the USA, and we hope to provide you with the services you need.
